an update to the Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant FF extension clashed with Xmarks ; deleted the former, all fine; #microsoftfailbigtime
fixed my Firefox problem; MS injects its own FF extension via Windows updates; instructions to delete it are here z20.us/mskb-963707
my FF problem: fresh install of FF 3.5, Xmarks is the only extension; can’t open new window (File menu or Ctl-N); remove Xmarks, all fine
the Firefox problem I’m working on has to do with Xmarks extension and possibly a Windows update
@JiMpiSh actually no; it started with 3.0.11 (I think that was my previous version); I only upgraded to 3.5 to try to fix the problem;
@JiMpiSh you said it; and I’m still not done; turns out the prob only happens with Xmarks installed and I need that for my 2000+ bookmarks
virusscan cean; did complete uninstall of FF 3.5 including extensions/bookmarks; reinstall FF 3.5; all fixed; now re-install extensions
@CameraCorner for the record, FF problems started after rebooting after Windows updates were pushed to my PC
@CameraCorner yeah I had not intended to upgrade FF yet; only did it to try to fix the problem; still running virusscan
